Fine September day
End of the first week of school.
It was going to be a busy weekend. It started off in a rush. I had just rode with Kieran home from school on our bikes and we had 15mins to get to the Weston GO train station to catch the train that my sister was on.
We got there in time. Phew. About 10mins later the train arrived. I think it was a bit late. If it was on time Kieran would have stayed home.
For dinner we picked up a Margherita pizza and a Cesar salad and on the way home I saw the largest dog I'd seen in years in the back of this pick up. Probably because he couldn't fit in the cab. He's huge. Like a cow.
I don't know what I would do without my neighbour Sam, he helps me every time I work on my car. I was replacing my rotors and one of the cradle bolts had become rounded and I couldn't get it off. I had stopped on that side and went to the other side and completed that work while I had Kieran keep on the lookout for uncle Sam so he could flag him down and let him know I needed him.
About an hour later we got the bolt off. With the help of a torch and some wiggling of the cradle.
Usually you replace the pads when you replace the rotors. Why? I don't know. But that's the rule of thumb. New Rotors = New Pads. I couldn't find the reason anywhere online. I was going to keep my old pads since they were still at about 70%. But forums said to sand them down.
In the end I replaced them with a new set of matching Wagner pads. I think the old ones were also Wagner Thermoquiet which were more expensive but they didn't work very well with my ATE (Older Filipino Sister) rotors. The outside facing side of the rotor was fine but on the inside - there were two concentric bands.
It didn't look right, which is why I replaced the rotors and eventually decided to replace the pads too. They were on sale as well. Why not. It's pretty cheap. The labour was free.
It was quite a crappy morning on Saturday, weather wise. An early morning call woke us up to remind us of registration day for Kieran's activities. Song saved us a huge headache. Thank God for friends like her.
I was planning to go out for a bike ride, but instead got to work on the bathroom. I'd been working on it all morning and making good progress. Pulled up the floor boards I needed to access the old toilet connection. I plan to cut that and replace it with a new one.

Most of the strapping was done.
Once that was completed, then it was time for the insulation. Most of it is in now. What makes is time consuming is cutting and wedging into the space between the strapping. Once this is done, I'm pretty much ready for a tub.
Oh ya...where the heck is it? Tresa needs to get me a tub and floor tiles. I don't need to tile yet, but I need to know how thick the tiles will be in order to install the new toilet flange.
She is really under the weather right now, but once she is back on her feet, she needs to get a crackin.
As a break from the bathroom I went and replaced the brake pads. Once you've done it a few times, it's pretty quick job. It's amazing how much you pay for it at the dealer.
when I'm in this Go-go-go-mode, I'm like the energizer bunny. I returned 10 of the 2x4's and 1 of the bags of Roksul and the PL300 adhesive for refund/store credit.
I actually used one of the store credit cards to buy another piece of rigid insulation, but somehow I lost the card after I used it. I was a bit sour at myself for being so careless. My productive weekend was tainted.
Tresa helped me search for the lost card, but we could not locate it. She said I should ask customer sevice for assistance. I read online that HomeDepot can cancel the gift card, but the store credit cards are basically cash on a card and can't be cancelled. When I went to HD on Sunday I was informed of this, but the customer service lady was nice enough to offer me $20.00 discount on whatever I bought that day. Which was more than what I had expected. My lost card had $22.51 left on it. I was expecting HD to say - "Sorry bud...tough luck on losing that card". I had gone for a hill ride to work off the frustration of losing that card. So I had come to terms losing the card, sort of. So this made my day right again. Thank you.
Note to self, put the card IN your wallet right away.
