European Vacation

This is the longest I've been away from a computer with internet access.

We're doing our Tour of duty:Slovenia leg of our Euro Vacation. We're in the eastern most part of slovenia now somewhere close to the Hungary and Austrian border.

Take a look what I have to use. Who added all those chars and moved the 'z' and the 'y'? The keyboard is nothing though. All the screen text is in Slovenian. I lost my card reader so I had to hook up my camera and figure out what pop-ups were asking. And what was 'accept' and 'cancel' and 'delete all'. So far so good.

In any case when we get back to Stuttgart I'll hopefully be able to upload the photos from Amsterdam, Stuttgart, Salzburg, Moravske Toplice, Bled, Postonja and tomorrow we're going to Maribor.

So far things have been pretty good. My slovenian has expanded to the point where some people think that I either speak slovenski or german. I guess my asian ethnicity was a bit of an oversight on the fact that I don't speak slovenian.

Food is pretty good, meat and potatoes. Not much sea food. And so far, so good...no runs.
Water is mineral water that's carbonated. So ask for natural wah-der.
And temps have been in the 30 deg C. It just hailed like crazy. Kieran was outside picking up the hailstones and eating them.

The place we're staying in is a spa, so it's full of retired people in speedos.

Things are pretty relaxed here. People like to put gas in their car and then go have a coffee while their car is still by the pump. I'm actually using the PC at the hotel reception desk. It has the hotel reservation software up. Some of da Germans actually come up to me and ask me to do hotel stuff like call a room. Must be a cataract patient.

I'm also the only asian within 300km. There were a group of Koreans or Japanese tourists (not sure they all look the same) in Bled. Which was 300 km away.

So I get lots of funny looks whenever I walk around the hotel at breakfast, lunch, by the pool, in the mineral bath everyone leaves :-( or they just stare, for the most part they're not very subtle.

They must be staring at me because I'm asian or because I don't have a speedo. Which I think should be banned from public use, unless you are a cliff diver.

Other than that...It's a beautiful country. I'll try to do a post or two when we get back to Stuttgart.

Oh Ray, everything is not that bad, just unusual. You get used to it, and after a while it's normal.
Hope to see you tomorrow in Moravske toplice. Easy

The keybord is really, really bad - I wonder where they found it (it's really a hotel one?).

Hey Easy, i'm getting used it to it now. If people stare, I stare back and laugh. :)
And that's the keyboard I am using. I think the PC is old.
