A mountain of stolen bikes

The guy who owned and ran a bike shop called 'bicycle clinic' at Queen St W and Strachan Ave was busted for possession of stolen bikes. And they brought all the bikes from his shop to the police station. I heard there was a bike mountain of stolen bikes.

How many? They don't know yet, but it's several thousand. They've found about 5000 bikes in various storage places around the city that he was renting.

So I went to the warehouse at Strachan and Ordinance that the Toronto police were using to display all the bikes they recovered from his shop for people in the city to check if their stolen bike happened to be there. There were 2 buildings with the bikes sorted in alphabetical order. I was hoping I'd find our daycare ladies' daughter's bike in the mass of bikes recovered. It was stolen a week after she got it for her birthday a few weeks back. But unfortunately I didn't see it.

If you go to canoe.ca and do a search with "igor kenk" you will find a bunch of articles related to this bike theft ring.

Apparently behind the shop there was a mountain of bikes. It was like where bikes go to die or something. The police basically watched these guys in broad daylight take a pair of bolt cutters and cut a lock and bring the bike right into the store.

The guy had the balls to do an interview with a newspaper reporter (who was writing an article about 12000 reported bike thefts in Toronto every year) a few weeks before his arrest to say that he had nothing to do with the mass of bike thefts in the city.
Ya right.

Here's the article and Igor's quotes from iBikeTO.ca: Bike Theft in Toronto

It was common knowledge on the bike section of toronto.craigslist.org that this guy perpetuated bike theft in the city.

Then a few weeks later he was busted. He basically pays people to steal bikes and bring them to his shop to resell. What a ......! You fill in the blanks.
