Pond Hockey

This reminded me of the few times I played pond hockey as a kid and it was snowing.
One of the good and bad things about ice hockey outside.

It was picture day so they changed up the routine. They scrimmaged the whole time today. They used an orange road hockey ball because it was easier to move through the piling snow. It was more like rugby than hockey at times.

Kieran's on the far side. He's in goal.
Not sure if you can make him out. But he's the kid that is farthest in the net. When the play is not in their end he was building snow walls with his hockey stick that made the ball deflect around the goal.

Eventually he made his way out of the net and skated with the other boys.
Then he made his way to the other team's goal and sat on the pylon and waited for the orange ball to come close so he could tap it in. And it worked a few times. It's so fun to watch them all put their arms up in the air when their team scored a goal.

This was our first picture day so I didn't know what to expect. It was a zoo. One of the changerooms was taken up by pictures. And so the others were jammed packed and the hallways were packed. Parents should change their kids at home and just have the skates to put on at the rink. It's easier. But not everyone thinks ahead. This was a tip another parent gave me a long while back. Some even put their skates on and just have them walk in their guards. Not sure how safe that is for the kids.

The Bloor West Village has lots of Organic food type stores. Can you spot the non-organic kids? Just so you know, that boy in the middle at the back, isn't standing on anything to make him taller. This group age is 4-6 yrs. When he sat down, he was the same height as the other kids.
Makes you wonder what he's been eating.
