Unlocked-down
After nearly 2 months since initially lockdown from Christmas. Toronto finally was opened up from it's locked down state.
Other areas were opened up 14 days earlier. Lock down has been a feeling of aloneness. Training alone, riding alone, running alone, xc-skiing mostly alone.
It has been 1 yr since the pandemic was official and Ontario had gone into essential services lockdown. What is essential? Well, medical services, pharmacies, hardware stores, grocery stores, food takeout
services, and liquor stores (LCBO and Beer Store). That last one is probably a saving grace for most people. Everything else was non-essential. It has been quite a change in how my local world operates. But it is what it is.
It has been an exercise in limiting your exposure more than anything else. There's 2 camps, there are the people who were respectful of others and their health, and then everyone else. It just seems like they were mis-informed. Non-believers until they got it and changed their tune. It's too bad it is this way, but many do not trust the info being distributed. I think because those with the means, do what they want.
But unlocked-down is back again and spring is just peaking around the corner. I feel for the businesses that were and are impacted, the ski resorts and nearby towns that rely on visitors coming to ski. We did manage to still enjoy the snow. We live in the GWN and those that embrace it can enjoy the white stuff for all that it is.
This year because the ski hills were barely skied on the conditions were the best I'd ever experienced. They folks at Sir Sams were protective of the Unlockdown and constantly reminded patrons to ensure their masks covered their noses. Just abide by the public health guidelines and everyone will be just fine. I don't understand those that complain that it infringes on their rights. It's more effort to complain than to abide. Makes no sense. Some peeps just prefer to whine and be unhappy.
The vaccine is being rolled out although a slow start, it is being rolled out. Hopefully we as a society can recover and enjoy life again.
