I dub thee Suka Day

I was trying to think of a happy place while I was recovering today.
I did go suka today. I was true to my Sukaboy namesake and did the real thing on my birthday.

Let's see. I called my cousin. It's her Suka-day too. But she wasn't making suka. Lucky duck. I wrote on her wall before she did. HA! BEAT you.

Tresa started the Suka day yesterday. I thought I had dodged a bullet, but the bullet turned into a guided missile and did a 180 right for my poopek.

I wish for a fast recovery. Please let this 24hr stomach flu be that. 24 hrs. No more like last time. It was 6 days of hell.

Happy birthday to ME!
Maybe I should take a raincheck.

Em3rsno

Happy 4th birthday Em3rsno!

Wish I had a photo of that piece of paper that Emerson wrote her name on at Ninie's house. But that's what it said.

She's 4 now so that means...she's going to school next year. Hooray for Lucy! Two kids out, one to go. She's seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

Her birthday was back in May. So this post is 2 months overdue, but Lou and Lucy and kids were away the month of May so this post is really only 1 month behind.

The long road home

Phew!
We did over 4200 km's of driving in the last 2 weeks. That's the most I've done in a long time.
No wonder I felt like a sack of cement.
It makes the drive to the cottage seem like it's around the corner.

I was beat.
I bet the car felt beat too.
Time for an oil change.

So we did NJ, then Hilton Head and back again and over the border again. The drive from NJ to Hilton Head was 1250 km. A lot longer than we'd initially estimated.

People just seemed to be on a road trip to everywhere. When we headed down to Hilton Head, we slept in the "Sleep Inn" and it was 11pm at night. And we happened to get the last room in the whole area. The guy before me said that we were lucky, there were no vacancies 1hr north or south of Roanoke, NC. It just so happens that this place is the mid-point on the way to Florida or NY.

There was a lady just after me looking for a room for the night. Too bad.

It was a good thing we had our own personal genie with us to make all of our wishes come true.
Our first wish...warm weather.

Hilton Head was as usual, hot. That's okay cuz then we wished for cool temps. We got the blasting AC will make you feel like you were in the arctic.

For my last wish I wished for relaxation. I ended up getting a cold. So I was dead tired. And the cold meds made me drowsy. The beating hot sun and the inside refrigeration was a sure fire recipe for the common cold. Which I got after 3 days. Try taking cold medicine and having to drive 1200 kms. It's a losing battle on the return trip north.

Just goes to show...you never get what you wish for. Just dream it instead, cuz you can always wake up. Unless you take tylenol cold/flu meds.

And because it was the July 1st long weekend heading home there were delays everywhere. It was smooth sailing in upstate NY. But as soon as we crossed into Ontario it was bumper to bumper. Streets and Trips came in handy to provide some alternate routes, but it didn't save us much time.

Kieran was a trooper. He slept in the back with papa.

It's good to be home.
