That's a Steel Nipple

Sorry it's not Superman's chest part, but it's actually a steel nipple with a cap.  No one asks the question about what that thing is sticking out of the wall directly above the stove anymore.  But it was asked a few times when we first finished the reno.  Someone thought it was a gas pipe.

Don't ask me why a section of pipe threaded on either end is called a nipple.  I learned this terminology years ago when I worked installing sprinkler systems.

I put this in because we didn't have the backsplash selected.
It was meant to be temporary until Tresa figured out what she wanted.
I thought I'd be taking it out and installing the faucet within 6-12 months.
It's now 2 years later.

I was interested in knowing if the faucet worked or not.  And putting it to use.  I saw later that evening that Tresa was making pasta.  I asked her if she used the faucet.  She said 'no, I forgot'.  Why'd we design for this thing in the first place?

It had been sitting in the basement for 2 years, and I didn't want it to be misplaced some where and then we'd be turning the house upside down trying to recall where we shoved it for safe keeping.

That happens quite often.
We put it somewhere so safe, that we can't remember where we put it.

It was quite easy to install.  I had watched a youtube video of a professional install and it seemed like I needed a special wrench that wouldn't scratch the faucet, but I ended up not needing anything special.

I needed a 2-1/2" brass nipple, teflon tape, and 3 wrenches. I was glad there was 2 flat spots that I can get a wrench on and thread the nipple into it., then use faucet to thread into the elbow fitting that's sitting in the wall.

It's a fluke that it's entered above the stove.
I put that there way before the kitchen was designed.
When I did all the work inside the walls, I put it in the centre of that wall, and high enough above the stove such that our tallest pot would be a few inches below the faucet.

It works.  And it looks like the Canadarm. woohoo.
And best of all...no more exposed nipple.

St Mike-cula

We went to see Bram Stokers' Dracula at St Mikes.  We got the tix because we went to the St Mikes fashion show fund raiser the evening before.

One of the parents we were sitting with talked about how much they liked it.  Well the mom was raving, the dad was okay with it.

So we asked Kieran if he wanted to see it.  Just so he knew what he would've participated in if he joined the club that put this together. Kieran even ran into some classmates.  So we got to meet some of his buds.

The production was surprisingly good.  They even had english accents.
I guess I wasn't expecting much.  As it is a high school production.

I've only ever been to 1 prior.  My high school put on West Side Story.  Which was great!  I also remember the prop gun not going off.  I was chuckling at that.  On the inside.

But the actors (my friends)  went on with the scene without a hitch.
So to compare.
This production had fog machines, a high tech bat, pyrotechnics that burned in my retina for about 10 mins after.

Being an all boys school.  There were no boys playing the female characters.  This is isn't the Shakespearean era you know.  They had auditions for high school female students in and around the area.  They were quite good!

Stranger Things

White Walker
After 15 months, he wanted it cut.
His hair was pretty much over 8 inches.
This is the 3rd and last time he's donating his hair.
St Mike's has a strict hair policy and long hair is against the rules, although he does have a hall-pass cuz they know he was growing it to donate.

Glad it's not the coldest day of the year.
It'll take some time to grow out a bit to insulate his head.

Demagorgon
It took 90 mins to cut all his hair into individual 8 inch locks with elastic bands.
Really appreciated Fabian's patience in doing it this way.

Forget Ang and the Last Airbender.
This is Stranger Things 3.

When he went to school the next day, one of his teachers asked him "Who are you?"

Brazillian BBQ bday

I didn't get any shrimp.  It all went to that lady's plate at the table next to our group's.
But I did get a ton of steak made 6 different ways.
The entertainment wasn't there 2 years ago.  Seems to happen every hour. So if you miss it, just eat for another hour.  But I can't recall if there is a time limit.I only think these entertainers are at the Adelaide location.
