N-Joyride again

We haven't been here since 2011 a few weeks shy of Kieran's 6th b-day.
We're not usually in town for Family Day.  But this year we were.
Kieran had been sick all last week.  And still has a bit of a cough but thought it'd be better to get out for a bit.

And so we headed up to Joyride 150 for a couple of hours.

It was actually enough for me.  I strained something in the back of my left leg. Probably my hamstring from hockey on Sunday.  I thought it might have been a combination of cycling with the club for the first time in a few months plus the hockey equals overdoing it.  But it was an easy ride on Sat to Port Credit.  But first rides are always more than you think.  I was probably fatigued and I had a few spills that probably normally wouldn't have happened and I strained something.

It was busy as expected for Family Day.  I wasn't expecting a few little riders with training wheels, but they were fearless.  I think mostly cuz they didn't know what was ahead of them.  There were a few spills and cries afterwards, but then I'd see them back on the track right at it.

The place has changed a bit, but more or less the same.  The got rid of some parts that weren't being used and expanded others that were.  It's an amazing indoor ride experience.  Something there for everyone.

I love the challenge of the little bridges.  Taking a spill is always a possibility, but as long as  you look far ahead and maintain your speed you are usually good.  Unless your line is off.  Then you are toast.
You can really learn a lot here.  It's not just about riding the bumpy bumps.  It's about working them.

And that can translate to riding the trails better.

Sick week Valentine

Who would want to be sick during Valentine's?  Not me!
But an 11yo wanted to be sick, and sure enough on Saturday he was with a fever.  Apparently it was going around at school and many kids were away.  Even next door was sick for a week.

At a classmate's birthday party at Chicopee tubing park, Kieran was feeling the effects of a virus and was feverish.  He managed to go up and down a few times, before he said he was laboring.  So he sat next to me in the chalet for a bit, with his head down on his hat and mitts.

Tresa went up and down a bunch of times.  But I saw the wall of people at the top and wasn't feeling up to it.  Looked like fun though.  Except for the climb up the hill.  There was a magic carpet up to the top, but it looked sllllooooowwwww.
The kids confirmed that.

Valentines supper was awesome! It didn't just look great it was de-lish.  And we get to use these plates and bowls that sit in the glass vault.  And these place mats that we can spill anything on.  But that's ok.  Life happens.
