Climbing the corporate ladder

People seem to be starting work younger and younger, one step at a time, one promotion at a time.

Kieran just started climbing the stairs on the same day we were heading up to the cottage which was on the 12th of feb. He did it once at home and never looked back.

It's cold...brr

We had to come back into the city for an appointment and headed back up to the cottage the next day during a freezing snow storm. Actually the freezing rain didn't start until we were minutes away from the cottage. It took us twice as long as it normally does. So 5 hours of stressful driving - not knowing where the lanes were, where the road was, red necks in their 4x4 3/4 ton trucks driving like it was dry, and basically just trying to get to our destination without going off the road and into a ditch.

I'm glad that I have winter tires for the trusty ol' subaru. This winter hasn't been really all that necessary to have them, but when the weather is bad, it's a lifesaver.

At least there was one person in our car that was relaxed.

This is what happens to you at the cottage and it's -15 deg celsius. For you non-metric americanos, it's 0 deg F.

F is for FRIGID!

After we thawed the snowman, look what we found! It was Jaedin! His smile is still frozen.

I was using my dial-up connection to work remotely up at the cottage, but it was tough. I found that I ended up working longer hours and when the work day was finished at 5pm, it was already so dark outside that I couldn't even enjoy the outdoors. I was hoping to go xc-skiing but it was too dark.

But I did finally get to go out on Saturday. Lou and I went to Sir Sam's ski hill and went snowboarding. The snow was best on one run down the middle of the hill. The other ones were really icy and the groomers left large ice cubes all over the place. It felt like I was snowboarding over rocks.
Always wear your helmets kiddies!
Remember the old saying
"Veggies are for eating, not for being!"

There's lots of photos in this link, Carmen! It'll keep you occupied for at least a day or two.

Unfortunately there's no photos of Lou taking a spill.

Happy Valentines Sukaboy!

I know that this 12 days overdue.
Read Kieran's shirt.
I don't think I need to write anymore to explain.

Hey my nose is looking pretty good eh? Can you see the scar?At least it's not bent. But I don't really have much of a nose to bend.

No more toothless smile

Wow, it's been over 2 weeks since I last did a post. I'm surprised I didn't get a phone call from Carmen. But I did get an email from Slovenia. There's a feature on the blog where I can see where the hits have been coming from anywhere in the world. It's super cool. There's this blip from Slovenia every day. And I know it's Izidor.
Yep, I've been super busy. But I'll put up another post very shortly.

Well, Kieran's first tooth finally broke through about 2 weeks ago. In total he's got 3 on the way. 1 on the bottom and now two up top.

You can't really see it in the photo, but trust me they're there. If you don't believe me ask Tresa.

Not really sure if it's really bothering him all that much, but the biting isn't that much fun for Tresa.

Global Warming

Global warming is a serious issue.
You can tell by the look on our faces, we're not kidding.

Global warming?
But it's freezing in our house.

That's because our house is 50 years old and insulation back then was an after thought.

I'm thinking of getting insulation blown into the walls of our house. I also think it's because the windows we currently have are crap. We'll have to make due with them for a little while longer. Windows aren't cheap you know. Even the crap ones are expensive.

So this is what we did. We went to the Hot House Restaurant at Church and Front for Carmen's get together for her wedding.

Carmen is on the left. The lady on the right mowing down the ribs, that Kieran is eyeing, is Sandeep. She arranged all of this.

And this is what Kieran got from Eileen for just showing up.

Carmen, here's the option to see more photos

Carmen is the only person I know that reads this blog everyday and if I don't update it often enough, I get a phone call instead of a comment on the blog telling me to post something new.
So we probably won't hear from you for at least a week, when I start to slack off with posting up photos.

Going Blind

After 3 years of Home Depot paper blinds we finally got window treatments. Almost looks like a movie screen. And the best thing is you don't have to tug on it to make it go up.
