The newest Desperate housewife

Another happy birthday to, Kieran's auntie.

She's now at the stage of the "new 30's" and she can consider herself in the same league as a desperate housewife.

One thing she could really use is a rubber shirt and a small catch bucket to bring with her ever time they go to a new restaurant. So that every time Liam marks his territory, she doesn't have to kill 50 trees worth of napkins to mop it up.

brush and floss

The trip to the dentist or the hygenist isn't so bad.
Just don't get her to turn on the sonic pick. If you hear the high pitch sound, be prepared for some unpleasant vibes.
It's faster than the regular pick, but when it hits the resonant frequency of my tooth it vibrates a pain nerve that zings throughout my brain. It's like I'm being punished for stepping on ants or those creepy crawlies.

It had been six months since my last appointment, and Tresa needed to have a filling fixed. I seem to get a build up of the tartar crap really fast, so seeing the hygenist more often is a good thing and it'll keep the sonic pick in it's cradle. And arrive on time. Because since it's quicker with the sonic pick. If you're late. Well too bad, you're getting it.

Skipping appointments isn't a brainiac idea either, just makes the next appointment that much more plaque to remove. And more picking and scraping. And more of that sonic pick.

But for Kieran it was only a checkup. And having only 3 teeth with one the way. It'll be real quick and easy to clean and most importantly - painless.

Why is the dentist not wearing gloves?

Who's the boss?

Happy St. Paddy's
Paul was here for the week and he's on his way back to the motherland this morning. It was a quick dash for business and then back home to Susan. And more bills. At least that's what he says.

I'd post up pics of him, but he looks the same as before.

So Antonio dropped by and Sandra, Tim and the kiddies (Madi & Meg) came over for a visit. And almost a sleep over.

This is a kid who can call a bluff. She was already to stay overnight and watch cartoons (the only one I could find was South Park). Even after mommy and dada left to go outside for 10 minutes, pretending to go home. She wasn't falling for it.

Who's in control of the situation here?

Then it was the strong arm of mommy dragging her butt out the door. Shoes or no shoes. But with a bubble maker as a bribe, we got her out the door without any tears.

You know, we could've put in the Baby Einstein vid with the monkeys and scared her out of the house. That would've worked too. Next time.

Be-lated Sukaboy day

I almost forgot! Happy belated birthday cousin.

This cousin works out. She's squeezing the be-jeezus out of Kieran.
Look at his face.

Did I see a groundhog?

Hey Spring is in the air and this is what is left of Old Man winter. This stubborn patch of ice on our grub eaten lawn.

For a while we thought our lawn was just crappy because I wasn't watering it enough. But water doesn't leave little holes in the lawn.

And it also doesn't attract skunks. They're the culprits digging holes. At first I thought it was squirrels trying to remember where they buried their nuts.

It was a beautiful weekend, filled with lots of work to do to ruin it for me.
We hadn't been to the St. Lawrence Market since Tresa was pregnant. So we packed him in the backpack carrier and we were off.
He doesn't really like the carrier all that much, but it's convenient. The stroller tends to be cumbersome trying to maneuver in crowded places. The backpack can get a little heavy at times but I think it's just a matter of having it set up correctly. And I think it may also have to do with me not working out at the gym.

Well here come the chores. So we rented a steam cleaner to clean the rugs in the house and especially the basement. After 3-1/2 years of living in our house, it's never been done. Soap not included. There's a hand tool as well. Comes in handy on stairs or tight areas.

For anyone that's been in our house. You should see the basement now. It's clean. I had to clean up the garage to move some big stuff there.

I didn't even realize that Home Depot carried this equipment. And I was glad it wasn't the humongous type that you used to see at Food City or Loblaws. You know the Easy-Off gadget that you needed a trailer to bring home.

We even taught Kieran to do his own laundry. Just give him some food. He doesn't do it for free you know. Next trick is cleaning the car. Wax on, wax off.

Designer Sukaboy

I had received an email invite to a Kiosk furniture line launch party. I didn't know what to expect. I just thought we'd be looking at new furniture pieces.

I only wished I had brought my camera. Cuz when we walked in all we saw were all these done up people dressed to the nines. I saw done up hair, high heels, guys wearing scarves inside the 3-level store. The door was open, but it wasn't chilly.

And the Designer Guys were there. Not the dynamic duo, but the new trio. I think TV makes you look shorter. Every time I see celebs I think of our cousin-in-law Chris R. He knows how to handle a snub from a hollywood celebrity. He's a PRO-fessional, he got one from Helen Hunt, basically he held out his hand to introduce himself at a conference and she looked at his hand and then looked away. NICE! Which drives me crazy, how people worship these folks. Why? And they get tons of stuff free! They can afford to buy the 3rd world manufacturing sweatshop that makes the stuff with their pocket change.

Good thing I didn't go slogging and wear my fleece Gap pants, inside out Gap shirt and my dirty trainers. It was like a house party. What the heck? It's a furniture store? And right beside it was a halfway house. NICE!
Tresa noticed it as we walked by. I saw it too, but there were ogres standing in the doorway so I just kept looking straight ahead. This must be where the squeegee kids go on rainy days. And it was raining.
I hope that they get more traffic than just the penniless kind, or they may find street people trying out their furniture, like the beds!

We couldn't leave Kieran behind, so we brought him with us. He's just another accessory on Tresa. Like her handbags. But more like a teddy bear stuffed with sand or water. Sometimes the stuffing comes out like sandy water or clay. But not this time, phew.

It was a little loud in there at first. We didn't plan on staying that long. It was only supposed to be on from 6-9pm and we got there at 8.
Didn't want his ears to hurt.

And lookie-lookie we even got a loot bag from Holt. I saw them when we first walked in. I'm sure Tresa did too. But I didn't want to snag it right away and look like I came from the house next door. So I did the least cheapskate-ish thing, I asked one of the Kiosk staff to get us one as we were leaving.

This sure was a schmoozing party. No one was checking out the furniture except for us. They were checking out each other.
They had servers serving wine and beer and trays of food. Of course none of them were serving the "family unit" that just walked in. So I served myself.

There were these rice paper wrapped springrolls that had shrimp in it with a hoisin sauce dip. Similar to the ones I make. The springrolls were ok. But the hoisin sauce dip I didn't like. It had a funny aftertaste. But I had a few to make sure. Plus I was kind of hungry. I still prefer the ones I make.

As we walked around the rooms on the floors I could feel the eyes focused on us as we walked through the entrance with Kieran. We were the only people with kids.
It was a little weird at first.
But oh well. They can't have him. His ours.

It was Speed dating in a furniture store. Kieran was looking around taking it all in. He was looking at a couple (hetero) on a couch and seeing what they were doing. I was trying to censor it. G rating only please.

And I think we were the only ones not trying so hard to impress.
We were just looking for a nice dining table and a light fixture.

Babies-R-SukaBoy

With a SIN number in hand, we were ready to put this kid to work.

About 6 months ago, I signed Kieran up with an agency. I thought what the heck. He should be allowed to make some money to put towards his education. With the rising costs, every penny helps.

So about a week ago, Kieran got his first two paychecks. Woo Hoo! Finally.
Straight into his RESP they go. Still not sure if the body rash he got from wearing the clothes for the photo shoot was worth it.

Tresa and I were on our way to Sherway and dropped by the Toys-R-Us to see if the catalog was out. We were told that it should be out mid-March. And sure enough the Canadian arm of Babies-R-Us had released it's catalog.

His photo shoot with the Baby Bjorn didn't make it into the catalog, but his second photo shoot did.
When I first checked the catalog I looked for the Baby Bjorn. I recognized the model, but the baby in it wasn't Kieran. I thought, oh well, at least he got paid. Then I looked for the clothing shot, I had to do a double take because I wasn't exactly sure if that was Kieran or not. It wasn't the best shot of Kieran, but it's the clothing they're trying show here, not the kid. Plus he wasn't all that happy getting his feet jammed into a shoe 1 size too small.

But that IS him on page 59 of the catalog, top right. He's the only Asian looking kid on the page. And it's hard to miss the lips squeezing cheeks.

There was a commercial that's been airing recently from the government, dept of health. It has a black backdrop and a whole wack diseases in white lettering and a bunch of naked babies on it. Kieran did an audition for this but ended up peeing all over Tresa. Oh well, that's what happens when you mix cold air and stressed naked babes.
