North Pole express

Kieran made it to his "Santa experience" at Sherway Gardens.
I had suggested he write a letter to Santa, since it was getting closer to christmas. I was going to mail it, but they took it at this event at Sherway. Apparently other kids had done the same thing.

Dang. I could've saved a stamp.

I asked him what he said to Santa, and he said 'nothing'.

and look for the subtitles.

Today, just a few days since he handed that letter to the Santa representing Sherway Gardens. Kieran got a letter from the North Pole. I couldn't believe how fast he got it. Plus it was personalized. Proving that they do read the letters. Wow...I'm impressed.

I read it to Kieran since he mentioned something to me about what we wrote. I forget now but it had something to do with the fish and the cats and dogs.

Who said Canada post was slow?
And for 51 cents, I think this was a priceless experience for a kid.

He doesn't think that the Santa at Sherway is the real Santa. I just told him that it was one of his representatives, because he can't be everywhere at once.

Grocery List 1.0

Kieran's been sick, so I've been trying to get him to do some work at home and make it fun, he's been doing his math, and writing and painting. So I asked him to make a grocery list for me since we were running low on apples that we'd had since October. I made the baked brown betty again with what I had left. Much better with butter that's not frozen.

If you can't make it out. Try looking at it phonetically.
and if you still can't figure it out.

orange
cherry
plum
apple
banana
crackers
new car (crossed out)

Claymation

Kieran wasn't feeling 100% but has been looking forward to Joshua's birthday for a long time. He'd been away from school half the week trying to recover. Although he was very tired he really wanted to go. So we headed down on the TTC taking the subway and the Street car. We didn't really need to but any opportunity we can we take the TTC hoping the jumpers take the day off. And Kieran just has this affinity for trains and so off we go.

It was downtown across from CityTV at the National Film Board Mediatheque. I've never even been inside this building. I've walked and rode past it from work a thousand times and never actually went inside, until today. Just remember it's the corner door and not the 150 John St door.

In any case it was a different experience for the kids (and some parents) and the out come was a short 1 min (if that) claymation video of all their figures.

Joshua's was the red plane with the black warts (windows).
Xander's was the green plane with the black battle scars (not sure what they are).
Kieran's was the turtle. Thanks to Joshua's aunt for helping him out. He looked very fatigued. But once she started him on his way he got going. I'm surprised he didn't make a train. But the artschool might have something to do with that in expanding his imagination.

All the kids were hovering around the animation table waiting their turn. So they put on the NFB cartoons (no Sponge Bob square pants here) in the other room with the food.

So in the video if you can't tell what they are, and some of them I got wrong.
There was a diver, which I thought was super cool.
A rainbow snail, a hiker with a green hat, a car, a brown dog, a moutain, a red fish, a blue shark (I think?), a 3 stage rocket, a single stage rocket (looks like a brown carrot with blue dots), and a bunny which looked like a monkey.

Mine was the rooster!
They always put the bigger kids at the back of the queue.

Crazy girl birthday

Raelen turned 5!
And Kieran is 5-1/2.
She was playing more with the sponge bob card and the ribbon than anything else.
She'll try out the Make up Kit Barbie on Jaedin when he's sleeping.

And there were some really creative gifts by her brother and sister.
Uh...It's supposed to be a plus.
Since Jaedin's was an 'X'.

It took a while before we figured out what they were supposed to be. Show and tell could be interesting this week.
Imagine if it was Easter.

Jaedin's always wanted a brother. Now he's got a cousin that knows how to annoy him. See how happy he looks.

Diwali

Happy Diwali!

This time no fireworks bouncing of windshields of cars.
Just 2 sick kids, 2 sick adults, cold and flu virus making it's way around the houses, and a package of sparklers.

It's been chilly this past week. Temperatures have really dropped.
I even put on my snow tires. Since it's been less than 10 deg C, consistently.
Yep winter is upon us. I'm thinking it's going to be a cold winter this year.

Gas stocks will be going up.
