Hungry like the Wolf

Hey who didn't love Duran Duran?
That was a hit song.  With a weird video.
And no matter how thirsty I was, I wouldn't drink from a dirty basahan.

These pics were from March Break.  A bunch of kids.  I won't say who. Decided to hide our camera thinking that it would result in staying at the cottage longer.

You know who they are.  I don't need to name these 3 kids with rotting teeth.  You can tell who they are from their bite marks.

Anyways I got the camera back on Friday and I can finally share these photos.
At first I didn't know what it was.  We just noticed a bunch of black birds picking away at something in the middle of the lake. It was pretty much decayed and pecked to the bone and it was in 3 separate areas.  It wasn't I until I saw a hoof did I realize it was a deer.

It's been a pretty hard winter for the animals.  Especially the deer. Many are coming out of the woods looking for food near the roads and finding that the grills of cars are not all that edible.

And other animals are coming out too.  We saw a gray wolf on the lake.  It was alone and looking for dinner.  We saw him sniffing the carcass there.    Then a few minutes later we saw a deer run on the lake and head up the property directly opposite the cottage.  With the hungry wolf in hot pursuit.  We figured that deer was gonna be lunch and dinner.

I was wondering where the rest of the pack was.  Not a good day to go xc skiing.

The old guy was looking for some venison for dinner.
But the most he'd get out of this was soup bones.

So he headed to the other pieces to see if he can salvage some salami for his sandwich.

The lake was ok for xc skiing.  I was hesitant at first because you never know.  But skiing on the roads was crappy.  It was icy and not that great.  So I took a chance on the lake.  And it was fine.  But I stuck close to the shore.  I did see the snowmobilers later and if a machine can ride in the middle of the lake.  I figured I would be fine for skiing.
The snow was deep.  I look about the height of E.T.
Let me stretch my neck.

We got Tresa some new boots and bindings.  I still have the museum pieces in our garage.  I could try to post them on Kijiji, maybe someone will want to put it up in the ski lodge on a wall somewhere in the bush.

We do live in igloos.  The Sinclair kids made this.  And the Orillia kids all went inside.  I'm surprised it's still in one piece.

Here is Olaf.

Minor Niner

Happy Birthday Kieran.
He wasn't expecting this one.  We were at Song and Jinn's for an Easter Monday supper.
Couldn't have it at our house.
There's no place to eat.

This was a blast from the past.  Loved this game.
Loved it too much.  It was a little addictive.
I'm not addicted to any game nowadays.  There's more important things to do.  Rather be outside enjoying the day than inside getting my screen burned into my eyes.

This may be a temporary whiteboard card, but it's now forever in digital format.
See who signed it.

We went to see RIO 2 at the Humber.
This is a cardboard armchair.
Read what it says.

See the photo.

I know what I would wish for.

But it doesn't seem to bother anyone as much as me.
Kieran has rolled with the construction interruption as if nothing is going on.
It's the last big change to the inside of our home.
Making it our own.

Humberside Memorial Day

It was Memorial Day.
April 8, 2013 an employee of Humberside Montessori School past away of cancer.
As a tribute to Rob, who was not only an employee but a good friend of the family and the school, they requested to the City to have a tree planted in memory of him.

Felix and Molly had a small memorial for Rob and Kieran volunteered to play as part of the memorial ceremony, and got Emma to join him.

Emma is Kieran's classmate and her violin playing is amazing. Kieran is really lucky to have her as a classmate as they are allowed to practice together in their class in the afternoons.
Emma's mom tuned their violins before playing.
I would have just said...1,2,3 - hit it!

It was a pretty great honour to perform.  Opportunities like these to showcase your skills come every so often.  I was told by my first boss, that I had to take 'em when they happen.

Glad it didn't rain.  Glad I was able to make it. I was glad Tresa was able to leave work early to see him.  And Nie came by and stuck around to watch too.

Emma played a beautiful solo that I wished I'd recorded, but I didn't know if I'd be able to store both performances on my iPhone 5.
She did a beautiful job.

But I have the duet they played.  Minuet 2.

Even though it was chilly out and feeling a little damp.
Their fingers must have been frozen.

Rosni Dan!

To whom it may concern:

I'd like to tell you about this lady who lives in this house. You may know who she is. I'm not gonna say who, but you may know her. She can be quite stubborn and frustrating at times.  Not all the time, just sometimes.

Sometimes I can't quite figure her out.  I want to give her the world, but it's usually her who prevents me from delivering the world to her.  (As long as it's not from Tiffany's, that'll have to come later.  After the bath world and kitchen world I'm in the process of delivering.)

But I gotta say. She is the greatest.  We wouldn't trade her in for anything.  Every year together we've grown a bit more, grown older a bit more, grown wiser a bit more (and maybe gained a bit more weight.)  But we know each other better and together as a family we have become a better unit.

We have seen what she will do for us, before herself.  What she will do for anyone, before herself.  What she will do for others thanklessly.  I see it.  We see it.

I think others see it too.  We have been together now for 14 years now.  And I can read her like a book.  And I know what she is good at and what she struggles with.  Like real crappy at.  But the desire to get better is there.  I see it. We are both students of life and we are both learning together.

I get her.  We get each other and that's what is so great.

One day she'll eventually get her Tiffany ring.
This year, she has the two boys in her life.  The two that drive her crazy, especially at night when she's trying to go to sleep.

See this cake. It's perfect for her.  It has shoes, a bag and a motorola Razr flip phone. A relic.
