29 going on 30

It was Bob and Elvie's 30th Wedding Anniversary. And Pam and Mark organized a party with all the family members over the age of majority.

Everyone came over to their house for hors d'oerves, wine and dessert.
Joyce was getting a head start on everyone. She was already cleaning the gristle from her teeth and getting ready for another round of grub.

Even The Tim Hortons lady behind Joyce brought over a big tin for coffee to go with dessert.

So it was time to get this party re-started and bring on the show.
And Bob had front row seats.

Bob was searching furiously for some 5 dollar bills. It did not matter that there were family members all around.

Everyone here was over the age of 18.

At the end of the show, Bob was either looking for some protection, some Red Bull or coffee to keep his energy up, or the blood pressure monitor.

He kept saying. "I know it's here, I packed it beside the plastic sugar dispenser from the 70's. Aiy nako"
And Elvie kept saying, "the mood is not spoiled."

I wanna drive a Zamboni

I got a pair of bob skates from Crappy Tire the day Kieran turned 20 months.

Our first attempt to get him to experience ice for the first time wasn't that successful, he fell asleep on the way to the park. So I ended up skating on my own while Tresa stayed with him in the car. My skates were super dull and I couldn't even get an edge. So it was a good thing he was asleep. But Tresa's a far better skater than I am so she would have taken him anyways.

I ended up getting my skates sharpened, but Sport Chek couldn't sharpen my skates because the blades were so low. So they said to go to Play it Again Sports, where I found out that the blade holder was cracked. So...guess it's time for new skates, or replace the holder and the blades.

I'll figure something out.

But today after daycare I decided that I'd take him skating for the first time.

It was pretty empty on the ice when we got there. But there was a kids hockey game in 20 mins and the zamboni was about to flood the ice. GEEZUS.

Patience isn't always a virtue that's blessed on 20 month old toddlers.

But he waited. And waited.

Finally I got my skates on and his skates with the four blades on. And we were skating.

All he was saying for the first 30 seconds was "Fall Down"
Guess he didn't feel too sure of himself on the ice.
He was doing the Antonio Shuffle for a bit then started to do the splits. But he'll get used to it and feel more comp-port-able, like being on dry land with rubber shoes.

Soon he'll be running goalies during games.
Hopefully not.

I carried him around the ice just so he could feel the sensation of gliding around.

But is it ever hard on the back.
I thought I'd better do this before the weather gets super cold. It's supposed to drop to -17 deg C on Thursday and a high of -9 deg C.
Better break out the long underwear.

Interview with Sleepless Baby

It was 10:05pm and the interview speaks for itself.
Sleepless Baby refuses to sleep.
He's also recognizing colour more or less correctly.
He knows what thirsty means,
and to squint and say cheese for the camera for those natural shots.

My Secret Identity

He is a mild mannered baby by day.
Playing with toys and asking for cookies.
But little do they know at daycare that this unassuming little boy has a secret identity.

At night he is the Sleepless Baby. He requires little sleep and will wake you up in the middle of the night asking for food. He will resist all attempts to put him to bed. He can hog a queen size bed in just a few kicks.
He can get downstairs in a matter of minutes and be digging through the cupboards for crackers like a racoon.

He is Sleepless Baby.

Actually we took him for a haircut. This one was a lot shorter than the previous two that we had done. Looks really different. Like we brought home the wrong kid.

But this is Kieran. He's almost 21 months and can say his own name. Sounds more like Keenin. But it's close enough.
He'll tell you that he has to pee, but it's usually after the fact.
But we still try to take him to the washroom to try and pee or poo in the toilet just so he gets used to it.

'tis no comment, just a quick "hello" from the old world to Tresa. And the rest of the family, of course.
Nice blog, good fun to read.
Happy new year to all of you.

Guess who's coming to dinner

Paul was coming over from HK. But he was going through Las Vegas first for a stop over.

Yep. A few days and a few nights in LAS VEGAS.
The home of casinos, showgirls, and black jack tables, poker.
Chips, and $20 min bets.

Susan wasn't worried. Paul was going for a conference.

Yeah right. That's the alibi.

Well what happens in Las Vegas, stays in Las Vegas.

Hey I didn't know you could get cash back from a Casino?
I thought you could only do that at Wal-Mart, 7-11, and Supermarkets.

Anyways. No photos of the get together. Just lots of talking and making fun of Derrick again. That was Paul's real purpose for the visit. 2000 miles in economy class was worth it.

Same old, same old.

Derrick's blurry for a reason. He's an eye-doctor.
He needs your business. So he can buy new shoes and pants to replace the ones he still wears that he bought from a used clothing store back in highschool.

Is it somebody who will update this blog? What's going on? Your losing your captive audience. Your blog returns must be plummeting!! :)

I know, there hasn't been much going on. Except that it snowed and it stayed. Although it's more like hard packed ice rather than light fluffy snow.
