It's Y3K part two. Well. Today is the actual day for Kieran, so he's like thinking this whole month is his birthday.
Wasn't too bad of a start to the day. Woke up and didn't put up too much of a fight to go to daycare. Dropped him off and the cake box and my camera for Marika and/or Slavka to take pics of the kiddies.
He didn't put up a fuss when I left to get to work either. So far so good.
That's pretty much most of the kids. At least the ones that don't go to school yet and get to stay here and play all day or go to the park or take a nap. Man...I wish I was in daycare.
I think Kieran has 3 fingers up indicating his age. At least he knows how to count. Math is an important skill.
So Tresa bought a cake the day before for me to bring in. And there was nothing left. Sort of like piranhas to fresh meat.
The big kid in the yellow shirt is Max. He helped take the photos for me. Thanks Max R. MTP.
This time since it was not so crowded. I was able to go in behind the scenes and check out how everything works. It's amazing.
It's set up like a real live railway system with a dispatcher control room.
Here's the Trainmaster. I think the members take their turns being the trainmaster. They explained to me how everything works. The logic behind the switches. That even if you flip the wrong switch, the logic protects the trains from collision, due to an incorrect signal.
This of course doesn't stop train drivers from drinking rum and coke and ignoring signals and running red ones. Same as in real life. Only 1-200th the size.
What's even more amazing is what the brain was controlling the whole system.
That's a 2nd generation commodore 64. And that big box on the right is 360K floppy disk drive. Wow. Can't even fit a digital photo on that thing. I haven't seen one of these high powered systems since 1999, when I sold mine and bought a 386 machine.
And the guy who originally wrote it, wanted to make it faster so he rewrote in assembler and burned it on to an EPROM that's connected to the back of the C64.
Apparently that guy who wrote is no longer at the club, so there's a project to upgrade the system to x86. Might want to really think about what OS they want to use. I don't know when this C64 was last rebooted. Not sure if I would recommend Windoze.
Kieran was even allowed to drive his own train and they gave him his own conductors hat, cuz it's a birthday thing.
All this running around, driving trains made everyone hungry for cake and pizza, chocolate covered marshmallows, juice, chips and more sugary stuff. All part of the 4 food groups to make growing kids deaf and hyper active. The veggies and dip weren't touched.
Gotta work on that cardio. That flame is still going.
Thanks to mamma for putting it all together. She did an amazing thing.
Got the party stuff together, food on the table, balloons in the air, and she still did her Workout Bootcamp this morning. Like the Energizer Bunny.
It was Isaiah's 2nd birthday and it was the day before Kieran's b-day.
It's was at this community center in Burlington with the basketball courts and big swimming area with waterslide and everything. It was a blast.
This is Isaiah's mommy, looking all worried that everyone was taken care of. This is kind of the only really good photo I have of them together. She's not really in focus, but then the focus of the day was on her kid anyways. Look at Isaiah focus.
She did a great job. Food was great, venue was awesome, day was perfect.
Isaiah's been running around on just pure glucose, fructose and sucrose, burning calories and he's not worried about sweat stains. See his pits. Wonder who's genes those were from.
I think he licked all of those cupcakes, with the supervision of his dad of course, to make sure he did it right.
The kids at daycare had a surprise for mamma on her day.
Kieran and the rest of the children helped to make a special card for her.
It's recycle this week so I hope I didn't include it with the flyers. oops...At least I have a photo of it for record.
If you look carefully at the card they put all the things that Tresa does and likes to do. They put a cross for symbol that she works at the hospital. The kids should figure it out that it's an "H". The 'cross' is for like a first aid worker. Get it right man. There's the needle for the bloodsucker work she does. There's the dragonboat at the bottom. But the boat has 15 people on one side. That's huge! This isn't Jason and the Argonauts. There should be only 10, at least for the dragonboats that we paddle with.
There was a cake and candles. The icing was yummy too. And all the kids helped to blow it out. Hope no one spit when they were blowing out the candles. Especially Brigham, he's like a petry dish. That's the blonde kid to the left of the card.
Daycare is like our extended family. Since they are close by we tend to do outings together. Of course Kieran gets stressed when it's a non-daycare day and he sees the daycare ladies.
